NotSoSeriousQuiz Documentation how to use bla bla bla
Introduction
You want to improve your grades but you’re confused by a million AI options? Yeah, same here. So, here’s the deal: this website is here to help you actually get better at stuff (and maybe flex on your friends).
What AI does it use? Honestly, it’s up to you! You make the questions, you pick the subjects, you decide how nerdy (or silly) you want to get. No weird paywalls, no “sign up to continue” popups, just pure quiz power.
Whether you’re cramming for finals, making meme quizzes, or just want to see if you remember anything from -3th grade, this is your playground. Let’s get those grades (or laughs) up!
Getting Started
- Open the app: Just go to the website or open the app on your device. No need to sign up! The app works instantly in your browser, and all your data is saved locally for privacy and speed.
- See the home page: You’ll see a list of subjects (or a message to add your first subject if you’re new). The interface is clean and simple, so you can focus on learning.
- Add a subject: Click the + Add Subject button. Type a name for your subject, like “Math”, “Science”, or anything you want to study. You can always edit or delete subjects later.
- Add questions: Click your new subject, then click + Add Question. Fill in your question and answers. You can use special formatting for math, science, or symbols (see below for tips!).
- Start a quiz: Click on a subject card to begin a quiz and test yourself! The app will guide you through each question, and you’ll get instant feedback.
Example:
Let’s say you want to make a Science quiz. First, add a subject called “Science.” Then, add questions like “What planet is closest to the Sun?” with answers. When you’re ready, click the Science subject to start your quiz!
Tip: If you ever get stuck, look for tooltips or help icons in the app. You can’t break anything—experiment and have fun!
Subjects
A subject is like a folder for your questions. You can make a subject for anything you want to learn or quiz yourself on, like Math, Science, or even “Harry Potter.” Subjects help you organize your learning and keep related questions together.
Ideas for subjects: School classes (Biology, History), hobbies (Chess, Guitar), languages (Spanish Vocabulary), or even fun topics (Marvel Movies, World Capitals).
- Adding a subject: Click the + Add Subject button on the home page. Type a name for your subject and save it. You can create as many subjects as you want.
- Editing a subject: Find your subject on the home page. Click the edit button (usually a pencil icon), change the name, and save. Rename subjects anytime to keep things organized.
- Deleting a subject: Click the delete button (usually a trash can icon) on the subject card. Be careful: this will remove all questions in that subject! You’ll be asked to confirm before deleting.
Example:
If you want to study Math, add a subject called “Math.” Later, you can add questions to it, like “What is 5 x 6?” or “What is the quadratic formula?”
Tip: Use clear, specific subject names so you can find them easily later.
Questions
A question is what you answer in a quiz. Each subject has its own set of questions. You can make questions about anything you want to learn!
Tips for writing good questions: Make them clear and concise. Use formatting for math or science. Provide plausible answer choices. Add explanations to help you learn from mistakes.
- Adding a question: Click on a subject, then click the + Add Question button. Fill in your question, add answer choices (like A, B, C, D), and pick the correct answer. At least two options are required. You can use up to five options (A–E).
- Editing a question: Find your question in the list, click the edit button (pencil icon), make your changes, and save. Edit questions anytime to fix typos or improve clarity.
- Deleting a question: Click the delete button (trash can icon) next to the question. Be careful—this will remove the question forever! You’ll be asked to confirm before deleting.
- Bulk import: You can add many questions at once by using the bulk import feature. Just follow the format shown in the app. This is great for teachers or anyone with lots of questions to add.
Example:
For your “Math” subject, you can add a question like: “What is 7 + 5?” with answer choices A) 10, B) 11, C) 12, D) 13. Mark C as the correct answer.
Common mistakes: Forgetting to mark the correct answer, leaving options blank, or not providing an explanation. Double-check before saving!
Bulk Import Format:
question (%*%) option A (%*%) option B (%*%) option C (%*%) option D (%*%) option E (%*%) answer (%*%) explanation
Each question must have exactly 7 (%*%) separators. All fields are required (leave explanation blank if not needed).
See the Bulk Import/Export section for more details and examples.
Taking Quizzes
- Choose a subject: On the home page, click on the subject you want to quiz yourself on (like "Math" or "Science"). You can quiz yourself on any subject you've created.
- Select a quiz mode: Choose from four different quiz modes (see details below) based on how you want to study.
- Start the quiz: The app will show you one question at a time. Read the question and look at the answer choices.
- Select your answer: Click on the answer you think is correct. The app will tell you if you got it right or wrong, and highlight the correct answer.
- See the explanation: If there's an explanation, you'll see it after you answer. Use explanations to learn from mistakes and reinforce concepts.
- Go to the next question: Click the Next button to move on. Try to answer as many as you can! You can always come back and retry questions later.
- Finish the quiz: Finish ? nah, this quiz is ENDLESS (except in timed, blitz, and survival modes)
Quiz Modes
Study Mode
No scoring, just practice with explanations. Perfect for learning at your own pace. Take as much time as you need on each question and focus on understanding the material.
Timed Mode
Questions with countdown timers. Test your knowledge under pressure. Choose between:
- Time per question: 5-600 seconds for each question
- Time for entire subject: 1-180 minutes for all questions
Survival Mode
Start with 3 lives. Lose a life on wrong answers. How far can you go? The quiz ends when you run out of lives, so answer carefully! Great for testing your mastery of a subject.
Blitz Mode
Answer as many questions as possible in 60 seconds. Speed is key! This fast-paced mode tests both your knowledge and quick thinking. Perfect for review sessions or challenging yourself.
Example:
If you pick the "Math" subject and choose Timed Mode with 30 seconds per question, you'll need to answer each question before the timer runs out. If you pick Survival Mode, you'll start with 3 lives and lose one each time you answer incorrectly.
Tip: Use the explanations to understand why an answer is correct or incorrect. This helps you learn faster! Try different modes to keep your studying fresh and engaging.
Tracking Progress
- Streak: The app keeps track of how many questions you get right in a row. Try to beat your highest streak! Streaks are a fun way to motivate yourself and build confidence.
- Stats: You can see how many questions you’ve answered, how many you got correct, and your accuracy percentage. Use these stats to track your improvement over time.
- Local storage: All your progress is saved on your device, so you don’t lose your stats when you close the app. No internet required after loading!
Example:
After exit the quiz, you might see your highest score and average correct
Tip: Use your stats to set goals. For example, aim for a 90% accuracy rate or a streak of 10 correct answers in a row.
Text & Math Formatting
You can make your questions and answers look special by adding symbols, math, or even interactive diagrams! Here’s how:
Formatting makes your questions clearer and more professional. Use it for math, science, or to add emphasis.
- Special symbols: Type things like [alpha] to get the Greek letter α, or [!=] for ≠. You can use subscripts (H[_2]O → H₂O) and superscripts (Fe[^3+] → Fe³⁺).
- Math expressions: Use the <KaTeX>...</KaTeX> format. For example, <KaTeX>x^2 + y^2 = z^2</KaTeX> will show as a real math equation. Supports fractions, roots, integrals, and more.
- Interactive diagrams: Use <jsxgraph>...</jsxgraph> for math diagrams (see example above). Great for geometry, physics, or visual learners.
- Formatting guide: Check the question editor’s formatting guide for more cool tricks and a full list of supported symbols.
Examples:
Special Symbol Example:
Math Expression Example (KaTeX):
Combined Example:
Table Example:
<table> | Element | Symbol | Mass | |---------|--------|------| | Hydrogen | H | 1.008 | | Helium | He | 4.003 | | Carbon | C | 12.01 | </table>
| Element | Symbol | Mass |
|---|---|---|
| Hydrogen | H | 1.008 |
| Helium | He | 4.003 |
| Carbon | C | 12.01 |
Interactive Diagrams (JSXGraph):
<jsxgraphcomplex> is for advanced/legacy code. You must create the board yourself using the global BOARDID.
Difference: Use <jsxgraph> for simple, modern code (just add elements to board). Use <jsxgraphcomplex> if you need to set up the board manually (e.g., code copied from JSXGraph demos).
Only one diagram block per question.
<jsxgraph>
const p1 = board.create('point', [0, 0], {name: 'A'});
const p2 = board.create('point', [4, 4], {name: 'B'});
const l1 = board.create('line', [p1, p2]);
</jsxgraph><jsxgraphcomplex>
let board = JXG.JSXGraph.initBoard(BOARDID, {boundingbox: [-5, 5, 5, -5], axis: true});
let p1 = board.create('point', [0, 0]);
let p2 = board.create('point', [2, 2]);
let l1 = board.create('line', [p1, p2]);
</jsxgraphcomplex>Bulk Import/Export
You can quickly add lots of questions or subjects at once, or save your data to use later. This is called bulk import and export!
- Bulk Import: Use the Bulk Import button (usually found in the subject menu). Paste your questions in the format below, then click import. This is great for teachers or anyone with lots of questions to add!
- Bulk Export: Use the Export button to save all your questions and subjects as a file. You can import this file later to restore your data. This is useful if you want to share your quizzes with others or back up your data.
Bulk Import Example:
<(%%*%%)>Math<(%%*%%)> What is 2 + 2? (%*%) 3 (%*%) 4 (%*%) 5 (%*%) 6 (%*%) 7 (%*%) B (%*%) The answer is 4. /()What is 3 x 3? (%*%) 6 (%*%) 7 (%*%) 8 (%*%) 9 (%*%) 10 (%*%) D (%*%) The answer is 9.
For each subject, start with <(%%*%%)>Subject Name<(%%*%%)>. Separate questions with /()\. Each question uses the format above. Make sure to use the correct separator (usually (%%*%%) or /()\) for your specific app version.
